No one ever thinks of ordering food online and ending up with 42 riders swirling their bikes around the house. Unfortunately, for a seven-year-old Filipino girl in Cebu City, the simple online order of chicken fillets turns out a nightmare for her.
The girl ordered food online, and it was a slow internet connection, and the bug in the Foodpanda app prompted the girl to tap the order several times. It was only revealed when the narrow street of her home was flooded with Foodpanda riders wearing pink color uniforms.
According to the girl, she ordered two boxes of fried chicken fillets with fries. She unconsciously tapped multiple times due to the erratic behavior of the app, which terribly resulted in 42 order placements. Her parents were out at work, and she was staying at home with her grandmother. The live visuals of this unusual incident were recorded by one of her neighbors Dann Kayne Suarez through Facebook Live.
Each rider was holding the same order of chicken fillets along with rice and French fries. The girl left to scare off after seeing this number of riders asking her about the order she placed on the app. As a result, the child found herself helpless and started crying. In the meanwhile, to bring a happy end to the event, neighbors weigh-in and played their role. The neighbors paid for the excessive food brought by the riders; however, there were still a few riders who could not sell their box.
Although Foodpanda was reached by local news outlets, the company did not respond to it.
