Amazon, the world’s largest eCommerce company, has formally enlisted the country of Pakistan in its list of verified sellers. Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Razak Dawood, in his tweet, confirmed the news.
The adviser reveals that,
“It is a big accomplishment for our E-Commerce & will open up vast opportunities for a new breed of young men & women entrepreneurs. We congratulate everyone involved,”

The move will now officially authorize Pakistani products to be available to millions of consumers worldwide. Amazon had also registered an office in Pakistan under the name Amazon Data Services Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. According to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Paul Andrew Macpherson would be the CEO of the office.
Prior to this, the news of Amazon’s decision to include Pakistan in its list had been widely reported for many days. However, the news revealed by eCommerce mentors from Pakistan believed that it would take 24 or 48 hours to finally inclusion of Pakistan in Amazon’s list. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan also lauded the announcement made by Amazon and shed light on its fruitful consequences to the economy of the country.

Despite its huge underlying potential, Pakistan was the only country in South Asia, which previously was not included in the verified seller’s list of Amazon. The current decision has been hailed as a milestone in the eCommerce industry of the country who had been ranked 116th nation among the 152-nations B2C eCommerce index, as per the United Nations Conference on Trade & Development (UNCTAD) held last year.
